Our History
Over 85 years ago, in a small tin shed in suburban Melbourne, Laminex founder Bob Sykes began creating decorative laminates.
Since then, the product range has expanded to include enhanced laminates, particleboard and MDF, decorated panels, componentry products, engineered stone and acrylic surfaces.
From homes to hospitals, hospitality and more, our products have enhanced the experience of every space through beautiful design, textures and palettes.
We believe every Australian deserves great quality products, and great quality design. That was our original intention, and remains our goal today.

Did you know, Laminex was the first company to manufacture laminates in Australia?
In fact, Bob Sykes pretty much single-handedly established the category in Australia.
Thanks to his legacy, Laminex is one of the mostrecognisable brands in Australia, so much so, our brand name has becomesynonymous with the actual product, laminates.
Laminex Australia has grown a lot since 1934.
